Guided inquiry, joyful discovery

Inspired Learning
in Action

At the heart of our Reggio-inspired approach is a deep respect for each child’s natural curiosity and capacity to learn. We see children as capable thinkers, co-creators of knowledge, and active participants in their own discovery. Our edumentors guide rather than instruct, listening closely, documenting insights, and extending ideas through meaningful projects. Spaces shift with the rhythm of the day: classrooms  filled with light, texture, and possibility. Natural and open-ended materials invite exploration, creativity, and collaboration. We follow the ISASA curriculum in Grades 000 and 00, and the CAPS curriculum in Grade 0, ensuring a balanced, wonder-filled foundation for learning.

Coding and Robotics is introduced in Grade 0

Technology Hub

In the Pre-Prep phase, our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach focuses on hands-on, play-based learning. While technology use is minimal, iPads document progress, and Coding and Robotics is introduced in Grade 0 through building and design activities that integrate Maths, Science, and Language in creative, meaningful ways.

Cultivating Curiosity and Wonder

Academic Hub

We follow a Reggio Emilia inspired approach that values children as strong, capable, resilient, and rich with wonder and knowledge. Our thoughtfully designed learning environments support exploration, collaboration, and creativity, with an indoor exploratory learning hub at the heart of the space. The building design intentionally promotes connection between children, educators, families, and the wider community, fostering meaningful, community-driven relationships and a strong sense of belonging.

Gross Motor Development

Sports Hub

Our adapted Long-Term Athlete Development Programme builds gross motor skills from Grades 000–0 through four weekly fitness codes, which form part of our first stage of our strategy. Focusing on core strength, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship, it prepares children for future sport while nurturing confidence, skills, and a lifelong love of physical activity.

Stage 1: Giving an active start and introducing the fundamentals

Our modules are as follows:

  • Fast feet – foot-eye coordination focused.
  • Muscle vision – hand-eye coordination focused.
  • Strength and fitness – Strength activities using body weight.
  • Team magic – relay style activity incorporating all components of fitness and introducing teamwork and sportsmanship.

Expression Through Movement and Music

Culture Hub

In the Pre-Preparatory, every child’s creativity is celebrated through a balance of play and structured arts learning. Our Cultural Hub nurtures curiosity and self-expression with creative arts, drama, music, and movement. Individual music lessons and dance disciplines such as acro, ballet, modern, and hip hop are offered by specialist external contractors, giving our youngest the opportunity to build a solid foundation in the cultural sphere.

Social Responsibility

At Rallim, one of our core values is social responsibility and an obligation to make a difference. Our community outreach programme is an important milestone in a child’s learning journey, gently expanding their world beyond the classroom and helping them understand that they are part of something bigger than themselves. Through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences, children begin to develop empathy, responsibility, and a sense of belonging within their wider community. By engaging with real people and real needs, whether caring for animals, supporting soup kitchens, organising clothing or stationery drives, or collecting items for orphanages and old-age homes, children learn the value of kindness, contribution, and active citizenship. These small acts are intentional building blocks, shaping the kind of compassionate, responsible adults we hope they will become when they leave Rallim. Through these experiences, children gain confidence, deepen social awareness, and nurture a lifelong sense of empathy. Every act, no matter how small, is designed to make a lasting impact, instilling values that extend far beyond the classroom and into the wider world.

Rooted Knowledge, Soaring Possibility

Our Reggio-inspired Pre-Prep years are the bridge between early childhood and the exciting step into Grade One. Grounded in the Reggio philosophy, we honour each child’s curiosity, creativity, and voice while gradually guiding them toward greater independence and responsibility.

Through rich inquiry and purposeful play, we thoughtfully weave in the literacy and numeracy foundations that prepare children not only for Grade 1, but for a confident and joyful beginning to their formal schooling journey.

1

Explore

3–4 yrs · Grade 000

Grade 000 offers a gentle and joyful introduction to school life, where learning begins with connection, curiosity, and play. At this foundational stage, we focus on personal, social, and emotional development, supporting children as they build confidence, independence, and positive relationships.

Through rich sensory exploration and hands-on experiences, children develop both fine and gross motor skills while being introduced to sport and music. By following children’s interests and nurturing their natural sense of wonder, we foster a love for learning and help each child feel capable, valued, and excited to explore their world.

2

Develop

4–5 yrs · Grade 00

In Grade 00, learning deepens through play, inquiry, and meaningful relationships as children grow in confidence, independence, and self-awareness. Experiences in early literacy and numeracy are intentionally woven into hands-on exploration, alongside creative expression and continued social and emotional development.

Fine and gross motor skills are further developed with more complex movement, sport, music, and drama. At this stage, we thoughtfully encourage independence and responsibility, supporting children as they build the skills and readiness needed for a confident transition into Grade 0.

3

Establish

5–6 yrs · Grade 0

Grade 0 is a purposeful launchpad into formal schooling, where children are guided to become confident, independent students ready for the transition to Grade One. Through a Reggio-inspired, inquiry-based approach aligned with the CAPS curriculum, children develop strong foundations in literacy, language, and numeracy, supported by a phonics and handwriting program.

Our integrated daily programme is enriched by coding and robotics, sport, music, and drama, ensuring a balanced learning experience. This final stage nurtures curiosity, collaboration, and resilience, laying the groundwork for academic success and a lifelong love of learning.
