Training and Exploration for Life
We see every student as a work of art. Etched by the joyous moments, the tough tasks, the difficult questions, the singular experiences and the voices of their Edumentors. This dynamic place works hard to deliver a sequenced, scaffolded and stable learning experience to every student. One that is calculated to engender deep spirit, dependable strength and an explosive impact on our modern world. Our students are not cotton-wooled but are loved and protected. They face the realities of their world, and are held in a formative web of care and mentorship. They develop the skills to execute tasks, receive direction, argue, challenge, propose incisive solutions, care for others and serve.
"Thinking is not always comforting. It is always good, but not always comforting."
- Robin Hobb

Information and Computer Application Technology
Technology
Literacy with the basics, fluidity with the skills and the insight to apply all of these learned media to the problems of the world are the bread and butter of these two classes. A well appointed hub for each subject, Apple technology and an active robotics and lego league team make this mutli-dimensional department an essential part of our school.

Great Beasts, Towering Trees, Glowing Depths
Life Sciences
With a growing living laboratory and a richly detailed museum collection, we teach wide and deep; seeking full, thoughtful and conscience-driven connection to the wild spaces that surround us. Field trips, dissections and lots of practical activities anchor the learning and provide inspirational moments for all students. A diverse world, sanctified, sacramental and sacred. Fought for by its human guardians.

Balms, Bombs and Superb Entropy
Physical Sciences
Craftsmanship lies at the root of this superb team. Wonderfully crafted, lateral practicals and excellent technical delivery of complex concepts makes our Physical Science and Chemistry offering unique. Science teachers with pizzazz and an eye for detail enhance engagement and excellent boutique laboratories add integrity to the teaching with real application of learning.

No Repetitive Redundancies
English
English divides as easily as it unites. The English department is committed to dismantling and dissecting narratives by exploring world literature. At Rallim, we create a community of English speakers with refined critical thinking and analysis skills. Language is power; it shapes perceptions and meaning. Our goal is to create a space where students each have their own powerful voice.

First Additional Love
Afrikaans
At Rallim, Afrikaans is more than a subject, it’s an interactive, modern learning experience. Students step beyond textbooks and bring the language to life through fun grammar activities, engaging poems and dramatic novels. With creative, innovative teaching methods, we ensure every learner is inspired, supported and confident. Making “Afrikaans is lekker” a reality!

Make, Keep, Invest, Grow; Change the World.
Economics
Students step into an engaging, discussion-driven environment where debate, collaboration and real-world application bring Economics to life. Global trends impact the South African economy as learners analyse how political and financial matters influence government, businesses and households. Ethical principles and social responsibility underpin learning, empowering learners to make informed decisions that support sustainable financial and economic growth.

It’s not just Columns and Numbers
Accounting
Students step into an engaging, discussion-driven environment where debate, collaboration and real-world application bring Accounting to life. A place where the ethics of business and its faithful recording are discussed, case histories presented and practice dissected. A place to learn to be brilliant at financial governance.

Life is Especially Beautiful when it all Adds Up
Mathematics
Maths at Rallim begins with wonder and exploration. Our classes are dynamic spaces where students question, investigate and discover in ways that make sense to them. We believe every learner can thrive, whether in Pure Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy. That maths is meaningful, practical, and built for real life. Maths is the hidden architecture of wonder.

Symmetry, Proportion, Exploration & Play
Visual Arts
Our Visual Arts Department is built on a simple but powerful belief: every young person carries a well of creativity within them, waiting for permission, guidance and the right environment to flow. This philosophy shapes the way Visual Arts is taught, both practically and theoretically, and informs the ways learners are encouraged to engage, explore and express themselves through art.

Smooth Harmony, Staccato Percussion
Music
When choosing music as a subject, the student experiences a relaxed yet focused environment. At Rallim we encourage Early Childhood Music Education, but it is never too late to start with music tuition. Life would be very dull without a jingle in your head. A love and appreciation for music encompasses far more than just: Attending lessons, Aural training, Theory, History, Instrumental training, Jamming, Chamber Music or Performances.

Stage & Screen
Drama
Drama feeds the soul and brings our school to life! It ignites creativity and confidence, giving students a vibrant space to explore performance and to see how theatre reflects their society. Through theory and practical work, learners grow in discipline, expression, and collaboration. They discover their unique voice both on and off the stage.

Ripples of Stone, Towering Volcanoes, Icy Caps
Geography
Geography is a uniquely powerful subject, making sense of the world, people and environments. It allows us, as a society, to understand how all elements are connected in dynamic and fragile ways. Blending scientific inquiry with human stories; drawing on data while nurturing empathy. Showing students that every place has meaning shaped by both natural forces and human choices. In the classroom, the focus is on cultivating curiosity about how the world works, encouraging students to ask questions and to foster a sense of responsibility for the planet and the people who share it.

All Disciplines, Blended in Design Application
Engineering Graphics Design
A strong department focussed on bringing these practical skills and the deep aptitudes of this subject to life in the classroom experience. Exploring the nuts and bolts of design and simple architecture and the sophisticated expression of these skills in machining.

New Business, New World
Business Studies
Business Studies explores how businesses operate through practical, real-life scenarios that make learning meaningful and fun. Topics such as entrepreneurship, the challenges local businesses face, professionalism and ethics, and the different roles within a business are explored. Students also have the opportunity to rent our beautiful business pods, on campus to run a real business, cementing their knowledge even further through genuine, hands-on experience.

Ear to the Drum of the Past
History
The love for History has been forged in the profound experience of exploring people, places and memories. Each person or timeline representing a period or experience that meant something to someone. Being part of the legacy that upholds those memories is an honor that very few will embark on with passion, appreciation and vigor. History is a psychology that allows us to arm ourselves with the knowledge of understanding the human mind and behavior without compromise or favour.

Edumentors
“Teachers have the ability to loosen boundaries of classification …Teachers have the ability to control framing devices, based on the formative analysis of student readiness. Teachers can employ productive strategies and assessments … and in so doing flatten the social positioning implied by strict codes …. This …. should be modelled by the teacher’s engagement with students, not as a top down classroom manager but as an immersed co-discoverer”. - Su Nightingale 2025
Edumentors
Co-Discoverers & Co-Journeymen
Our Edumentors are co-discoverers. Immersed in two core tasks. The first is their subject. Rallim Modern Learning Environment employs Edumentors who are knowledgeable in their fields and this field-informed foundation expresses itself in the classroom. Questions can be answered and relevant and poignant lessons learned. Their second task is to know, care for and cherish the individual students in their mentor class. Each Edumentor is immersed in the lives of their charges and provides a stable framework for them to measure themselves against and to explore new learning experiences.
Sports Hub
Specialisation of Sport
Secondary School (Grade 8 to 12):
Our first 3 stages developed from the Preparatory would have equipped our athletes for the 4th and final stage in their school sporting development, where this will be the right time to begin specialising in sports.
Stage 4: Specialising
By this stage athletes know which sports they favour as well as which sports they excel in. This is the correct age to be selective and put all your time and focus into the sport or sports of your choice, looking to succeed either in terms of Provincial or National recognition or with overall team results.
We take the platform of skills, strength and mature attitudes to competition and let them blossom into a set of competitive teams with strong students pursuing excellence in each.
